I started by stamping a "plus sign" in the center of my light green paper using vintage green ink.

after cleaning my stamp, I re-inked it using black dye ink and stamped it above the horizontal lines. (hint: it's much easier to line up the plaid with the lines that are already on your card if you stamp above your first stamping.)

at this point my plaid could have been finished but I wanted to add a little extra pizzazz, so I used a ruler and a gold paint pen to add gold lines in the more open portions of my plaid.
